Maybelline Electro Pop Lip Balm Electrifying Enough?

Well, after I thought I had enough lip balms for the next few years, Maybelline decided to tempt me with their new launch, i.e., the Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Pop in four shades. I have three of them. Look at them and tell me you don't want them!

L-R: Oh! Orange!, Pink Shock, Berry Bomb

Tough no?
That was more than enough to make me buy them! Are they worth the hype? Lets see!

Sheer color and shine
8h continuous moisture
Clinical strength lip balm

INR 165/-

Oh! Orange! How I wish you were only more orange! I was really let down with this one because it transfers to a peachy nude shade on my lips which is slightly pigmented ( even after I swiped multiple times ).

Out of them, Pink Shock was my favourite. It looked beautiful in person and gives a very pretty pop of pink to my face.

I had expected Berry Bomb to be the "Bomb" ya know? I expected a real good colour pay off with this one and we can see how it turns out.

These lip balms glide on smoothly to the lips and makes your lips look so healthy by minimising the lines on your lips. They can survive light snacks and need reapplication every 2 hours. Since it is getting colder, these are not moisturising enough. I am sure they would fare better in the summers.

I don't know how on earth it turns up so neonish and bright on other bloggers. It is said to be similar to Revlon Lip Butter and I totally DISAGREE. These are much sheerer and lasts for a lesser amount of time. You need to swipe so much to get the tint like the pics above and hence it will not work for pigmented lips.

They also smell BERRY nice! I can sniff them all day!

Honestly, I think I'd only buy Pink Shock. Plus, their quantity is lesser than the original baby lips. These do not have any spf either.

My Little Photo Shoot Experience!

Hello beauties! I did a small little photo shoot on the 13th of March. It was one day when one of my friends came and asked me if I was willing to do make up for her friend's portfolio. I thought it was a great chance even though there was no talk of payment. I mean, I'm no pro and it would definitely be worth the experience right? Plus, I get to share my work! :D
So, things were a little mess because it was a bit unplanned for me as I did not know the others! Plus, I was walking with my huge vanity box on the road. It looked as though I was carrying a bomb! :P. My friends came with a scooter to pick me up and we reached our venue. It was somewhere inside my area, a tannery. It was quite spooky looking to be honest and I was wondering if I was actually going for a photo shoot! :P

It took a long time for the photo shoot to start and the weather was not in our favour. My models wanted something simple and not very complicated. So, I settled down for some quick ideas as time was just slipping away! Out of all the thousand products in my vanity, these are what I used:

Model: ChiChi Dewan

The moment I saw ChiChi, I knew she had model potential!

Products Used:

Revlon Colorstay Foundations in Warm Golden & Sand Beige
Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in Peachy Sweetie
Kryolan Translucent powder in TL4
120 eye shadow palette
Nice shop eyebrow powder duo

Meilin lip liner and lipstick in Gold Rich Red
Maybelline Gel Liner in Black
Clever Cat lip honey!
Basicare Lash Glue

Model: Maria Lee

I always see Maria in simple clothes in college. No make up. But, after this photo shoot.. oh my! she makes a beautiful model!

Products Used:

Kryolan TV Paintstick in FS 45
Revlon Colorstay concealer in Medium mixed with NYX HD Photogenic Concealer in Beige ( not in the picture )
Kryolan Translucent Powder in TL 4
Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in Peachy Sweetie
Nice shop eyebrow powder duo
120 eye shadow palette
Maybelline Gel Liner in Black
Clever Cat lip honey
Meilin Lip Liner ( red ) with Colorbar Hot Hot Hot velvet matte lipstick.
Kidney False Lashes ( So beautiful and cheap! )
Basicare Lash Glue

Model: Maria Liu ( Yes, two of them! :P )

Also, Maria's make up was super natural and she looked absolutely stunning! Another beautiful model!

Products Used:

Coloressence Foundation Palette ( HDM-1)
Kosmik Translucent Powder in KTL 5 ( not in the picture )
Maybelline Cheeky Glow Blush in Creamy Cinnamon
Nice shop eye brow duo
120 eye shadow palette
Maybelline Gel Liner
Maybelline Lip Liner in Velvet Beige
Maybelline Colossal Mascara ( waterproof )

Looking back at the photo shoot, I feel that my makeup was not that bad compared to the time I had in hand! I think these three models carried everything out so beautifully! The photos came out so fantastic thanks to Abel Wilson and his companions. I think ALL the photo's were beautiful!

You can check Abel Wilson's work at

After this photo shoot I learnt quite a bit. I learnt that it takes a whole lot of effort to make a successful portfolio. Trust me, even though it was little, it was absolutely time consuming and difficult. You need patience.. tons of it! I made new friends who are so nice and sweet even though I can be quite reserved and most importantly, team work. We all got together to make this photo shoot a success! I would even give credit to my good friend Li Ai Ling. She opened up a great opportunity for me and also, she was the amazing hairstylist behind the scenes. Her hand works like magic!

Overall, I would LOVE to do a photo shoot like this again because of the amazing experience!

If you have any queries about the make up or anything, let me know!

Much Love,

My Experience with Bharat & Dorris!

You may have the best makeup products out there in your kit but hey! What's the use when your application makes you look like you used hair brush on your face? I did not and will never invest in brushes that will burn a hole in my pocket because..

I am unemployed

I am a spendthrift

My purse just doesn't seem to like 4 digit numbers!

So for those of you who can totally relate to me, continue reading. If not, you can still continue to read if you're bored or want to maybe spend. Oh, this review is going to be long too! :P

So while searching for good quality affordable brushes, I read about Bharat & Dorris brushes which are suppose to be really great and I was dying to get my hands on them. Surprisingly, they are now available online! So I ordered them. More surprisingly, the website had really bad reviews which made me panic like crazy cause I spent quite a bit!

So there I was, ordering like no tomorrow. I think I edited my cart a 100 times cause I wanted all the brushes :P. They even have some makeup products and I totally forgot to buy their mattifying cream cause I read great reviews on it. They have various payment options which is easy and convenient. Everything seems a breeze till.....

You finish ordering. Firstly, when you opt for net banking, even if your money transfer is done, at the end of the email, there was a note saying that there was security error and illegal access and I was absolutely clueless. At the same time I got an e-statement from my bank account saying that money was transferred. I received no email after that for about 2 days ( I had placed an order on 18th Nov ). I had sent two emails, but I got no reply. After I lost my head and sent another angry email and decided asked for a refund, it was then the customer service cared to reply to my email and ever since, they have been in touch, not only through email but also through whatsapp. They claimed to have been working on the e-commerce of their site and hence the delay of the order. I do not blame them for order delay but a customer's email should be taken into regard and replied back ASAP. However, I am glad that they did make a lot of effort to keep asking me on whatsapp if I had received my parcel which I really appreciated.

So there I was, thinking everything would be al right and things became pretty pathetic as there was now a problem with the Courier service. I had received my order almost a month after. Why? Durga Puja and Diwali was being celebrated here and the courier service was not active. Understood. Done. After that? more delay. Why? My house was locked for two days. Even if it was, they could have just called? Muharrum and Guru Nanak's birthday followed soon and the bank was closed. Done. After that? Still no parcel. Why? Their office had got raided. Even ordering from international websites were much faster. I finally received my parcel after Guru Nanak's birthday thankfully and there it was......

Is that a letter or a parcel? I was quite a bit surprised as well! I was expecting a bulky packaging with bubble wrap so it was quite disappointing. I just wished that my brush was intact!

These are the brushes that I had ordered and reached me safely:

1. Foundation Brush No.58 ( INR 790 )
2. Liquid Foundation Brush No.49 ( INR 550 )
3. 2 pieces of Eye Buffer Brush No.63 ( one for concealer ) INR 450 each
4. Complimentary Gifts- A lip gloss and a lip pencil

And a letter which had a very uneven edge.....

It's not that I am extremely fussy and always whine. I just feel like the little things should be kept in detail! Also, the lip pencil kind of created a mess in the envelope which I am sure is because of the courier service!

Why I would shop again:

1. Great brushes at affordable price
2. Good selection of makeup & brushes
3. Convenient payment methods

Why I would think twice:

1. Very poor courier service
2. Customer care needs to pay more attention to customers needs
3. Poor packaging. There should have at least been some bubble wrap! :/

Would you shop from Bharat & Dorris?

I don't think I'd shop from here if I wanted my parcel before a particular time. I'd shop however for the good quality and affordable items!

Much Love,

Emmy <3

The Vanishing Act Of Mine and My Enlightenment!

Oh yes! I hear some of you saying that the title is totally appropriate and I take blame. Blogging took a back seat for tooooooo long. I think my priorities seemed to be edited and now, I am trying to get back on track again. I see how much commitment is needed to be a successful blogger and I really salute those who are so committed to blogging! What made me bounce back?
A blogger friend, Nivedita. How? It was when I was going through her blog and commented in one of her post to which she replied and asked me why I stopped writing. That very sentence really made me want to get back on track! Why did I stop writing? I questioned myself for days. I wanted to create a blog but why create if you can't even write? the past one year has been extremely hard on me. I'm not referring to my exams. It was also because of the demise of two dear and loved ones who are extremely close to my heart. It left me shattered, feeling lost, lonely.. just so horrible! I had my families visiting, guests and friends visiting, totally packed schedule. I started suffering from insomniac, health deteriorated. It was one of the worse years of my life!
Now let's look into the brighter side.. tons of hauls and shopping. I have even improved quite a lot on my own makeup skills compared to before! There is always room for improvement so I look forward to learn more in the future as I am not a trained makeup artist or anything! Also, I had done makeup for a small photoshoot that was held somewhere near my area and it was a beautiful experience! I think I'll do a separate post for it because it is quite interesting! This coming week too, I would be doing makeup for my college fashion show. The theme being " Colours of Life ". Super exciting cause there's gonna be tons of colour on the stage and I love some colourful eye makeup! ;)
I cannot promise that I will write a post everyday but I will make an effort to not disappear for so long again! Nivedita, I can't thank you enough for springing up the question! It was like an enlightenment that was dawned upon me! Like the tata tea advertisement.. jaago re! :P

Much Love!
